Luck

by

Vincent Oxford

Luck escapes me
it leaves me grinding along, so alone
hard work and failure
go hand in hand

it engulfs me...
the sodden pain of defeat, of loss, failure
my endeavor's shredded
torn to shattered fragments
each sharp and painful
then dull and bitter, everlasting

pure confusion, desperation
fickle fortunes leave me
a shattered hull
capable only of sorrow
until luck forgives
shows me its gentle side once again
