Perpetual Emotion

Just when the trust 
dust has settled on old injuries
a tempest swells 
threatens her serenity.

Something triggers 
an ancient rage;
a sound, a fragrance, 
words on a page.

Sanity walks
a perilous rope.
Psyche struggles
for strands of hope.

She plots 
her final wretched breath
welcomes 
sweet, merciful death...
