Just Once

By

Susan Maree Jeavons

Just once, I want to wake
and not remember,
or see in the mirror clues
of my past.

Just once I want to dream,
not scream in terror.
I want to cry, know someone
cares at last.

Just once I want to hope
tomorrow's different,
just once, Oh Lord,
just once...
