That Girl She Used To Be

by

Staci Rice

She cried as she looked into the broken mirror,
Seeing her small reflection looking back at her.
As the snow fell slowly outside her window, covering the ground with a gentle glow,
She saw how quickly her reflection changed with out a warning or a sound
She hated what she saw looking back at her. She hated what she had done,
but most of all she hated what she had become
She would now kill to be that girl she used to know,
That beautiful girl, that loved not only herself but all that she could be.
For her friends in school and out, it was hard for them to see,
Because they were the ones that murdered that bright, happy girl, she used to be.
Now she goes about each and every day as calmly as can be, trying to let no one
See, that she’s just trying to find that girl she used to be. That girl she used to be.
