Blessings of Mum's Life
by
Solomon Machardson
Before you
gave birth to me,
You carried me in your womb;
After you gave birth to me
You carried me in your arms.
Your person filled me with awe,
Your love for me knew no bounds,
Your death broke my heart with grief
And your memory sustains me with pride.
Across the immeasurable gulf
Of the loneliness of the tomb,
Your life blood flows in my veins
And your love weighs in my heart.
The gorgeous memory
Of the wavering smile
That lingered on your lips
Is indelibly stored in my heart.
My night has become a worship:
I sit face to face with your memory
And count the blessings of your life
In silent and overflowing leisure.
