Atheist

by

Solomon Machardson

The wind gushed fiercely,

The clouds rumbled and thundered;

The lightening blinded

And the heavy rain pattered.

He felt like a wounded buffalo

Tangled in a tight net!

The immortal fear filled him

With horror perpetually new!

It spread its wings in him,

Shivers seized hold of his body,

Chill flooded inside him,

It seemed as if his heart would break

Overwhelmed with fear

He forgot his atheism

And closed his eyes and prayed!

He called God, "My Lord."
