A Father's Love

by

Sherry Ermish

He gives of himself
Much more than he takes
He's warm and he's caring
And at times his heart aches

He's there to help out
Whenever he can
He stands tall and so proud
As he holds their small hands

He watches them change
wipes tears from his eyes
Too soon they grow up
And he'll bid them good-bye

He will know in his heart
That he did what was best
Allowing them room
To put their wings to the test

He will hold onto them tight
With his arms outstretched
On his heart are their faces
Forever, to be etched
