A Break-Up Blizzard

by

Shauna

The two drift apart, Winter
is here
Icy words are exchanged,
I don't love you -- It's over,
Dry leaves crumble like broken hearts,
And regrets fall all around me like snow.
My body feels frozen as I realize
we're not meant to be,
Not going to last forever.
A feeling of warmth is reinstated
when friends offer a shoulder to lean on,
A cup of hot chocolate to drink.
Now the once chilling words are memories,
And my pain melts away like a Snowman,
Allowing my mended heart to love again.
