Winter Nights

By

Scott R. Jones

There’s a chill in the air on this winter night

The snow flakes glitter like diamonds in the light

The winds of winter rush through the air

Spreading its chill, everywhere

Naked trees sleep through the night

Awaiting the summer’s warm sunlight

The squirrels and rabbits take their rest

Staying warm in their nest

Smoke from the chimneys rise in the night

The warmth of the flames send a glowing light

A blanket of snow covers the earth

Waiting for spring to pronounce its birth

Winter nights and bright moonlights

Warm our hearts through the night
