The Storm

By

Scott R. Jones

The clouds gathered one hot summer day
The roar of thunder was far away
So I kept on working without a care
As the angry clouds came to my despair

I looked at the sky and to my surprise
Was a wall of clouds so angry and high
They were so tall and black like the night
So I fled to cover with all my might

A tornado it was so fierce and strong
An act of God that doesn’t last long
Its swirling winds and pounding rain
Were drenching the earth while inflicting its pain

It came and went like a flash in the night
Leaving destruction behind with all it’s might
Lives were taken and hearts were broken
I thank God for dreams when my eyes opened
