Darkest
Thoughts
By
Rusty
Broadspear
You can draw the blinds across your minds
But darkest thoughts thread their way back through the cracks.
You can banish them to some subconscious island
But they have a way of swimming back.
Unwelcome friends by candlelight
You can chase them into the night
Out of mind and out of sight
But your darkest thoughts put up a fight.
They bite back like slippery snakes
Then disappear from your vision
They tell you stories you don't want to hear
But have a way of forcing you to listen.
Your darkest thoughts project images of horror
Of what will visit tomorrow,
And have their say about yesterday,
Filling your heart with sorrow.
