Observance

by

Raye McDonald

She was always to be found, doing more than her share
of whatever the task might be.

The wiser of the young gave her the gift of observance.
They waited and anticipated.

She grew weary and the ravages of time pulled her body down.
Her work was almost forgotten, except from
the thoughts of the remnant.

Now had come her time of expectance, and so
she watched and waited with
great patience.

And then one day her spirits soared with an earned reward.
The few became a multitude.

This poem was written in honor of a great lady and a dear friend whose
influence has touched countless lives.
