My Piano
by
Raye McDonald
You sit silently in a corner of the room,
with
eighty eight voices waiting to
be awakened by a
special touch.
You are regal, elegant and
adorned in ebony.
To many your
grand size is intimidating.
Your notes have produced music
from hands that have
embraced your keys with the romance
of Chopin.
Your sounds have created storms over
turbulent seas.
You have painted pictures of
peaceful pastures full of singing birds,
that revealed the spirit of
Beethoven.
You have comforted the grieving and
provided zest to a celebration.
You have been patient with a beginning
student's banging touch.
You speak with the voice of power,
and your conception spilled out of the
heart of a Creative
God.
You are my piano!
