Anchorite

by

Paul Grimsley

I grab the silence while i can --
Out here, behind the times,
We move to insure progress is smooth,
The eras that can sit in a single breath's span
Show how quietly advancement can move.
I like to forget the future,
I'm still dealing with the past --
Someone comes to present the now at last
And I am surprised by the form it takes:
If equilibrium disappears does that mean
fragility breaks?
