To Fly

by

Nicole Starleigh Yeager

Have you ever wished that you could fly?
I wonder as I lie afloat in a cool summer pool
and watch the birds soaring up in the sky
coming and going as they please
leaving all their troubles behind
even if just for a short, little while
Wouldn't it be nice?
When you get tired of here,
to be able to jump into flight
and take off, leaving all worries below,
as you fly around, free and light
with the sun at your back
and the clouds under your wings
even if just for a short, little while...
Wouldn't it be nice?
