Moon, Shine

There's a new pain I feel
It hurts deep inside
Get past it, you say?
I tell you, I've tried

With each passing day
And every long night
It makes itself known
It makes my chest tight

My eyes are familiar
With the burn of these tears
Inside, my heart cries,
I can't face my fears

As I sit here alone
Beneath this gentle moon
He looks down to say, "Don't cry,
Child, he'll be home soon."

A smile struggles on my face
As the moon attempts to comfort me
But if I never see my friend again
Then forever saddened I will be...
