Deafening Silence

by

Mark Mitchell

Deafening silence between us
Tension, pain, unresolved issues, storm clouds
Going through the motions of daily life
Stress, headaches, taking each other for granted
Deafening silence between us

What happened to the communication?
It used to be so good, as long as you’re the one talking
When I dared complain, you pulled back, silence
My quiet demeanor has spoiled you dear wife
Deafening silence between us

I’m tired of playing chess
It’s time to listen to me
We’ve got many years ahead of us
I don’t want them in misery
Honest, two-way communication between us
