Black Man Why They Call You That

by

Lisa Bartley Lacey

BLACK Man,
Why they call you that
When straight from Kings YOU flow
Why they cloak YOU In stained rap
When Queens have made YOU grow
???????

BLACK Man,
I'm your Mama PROUD
But scared because I wonder
How to teach YOU To be King
When they seek to Pull YOU under
???????

We hold these Truths to be self-evident
That all MEN are created EQUAL
ALLLLLLL
MEN

BLACK Man,
Why they call YOU that
Expecting YOU To mind
Why they think you're born to be
Their 'boy' throughout alllllll time
???????

BLACK Man,
I'm your Woman BLACK
And True because we share This
How I love you Queen to King
In a kindred endless SOUL-Bliss
???????

That they are ENDOWED by their CREATOR
With certain unalienable RIGHTS
Right...Right

BLACK Man,
Why they call you that
Don't you listen;
HEAR?!
Everything To slander YOU
Is just to hide their FEAR
???????

BLACK Man,
Why they call you that
When their blood holds the shame
Before this thing is over KING
They gon say your
NAME
!!!!!!!

That among these are...
LIFE...LIBERTY...& the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS
LIFE...LIBERTY...& the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS

BLACK Man,
Black MAN,
BLACK...
MAN
