A Lost Friendship

by

Laura Beth

Nothing lasts forever;
Nothing's "til the end."
Here I'll tell you the story
Of how I lost my friend.

We were closer than close,
As close as friends can be.
I confided in her,
And she, as well, in me.

We referred to ourselves as sisters,
That's just the way it was.
Until the day we parted ways.
There simply was no "because."

Our perfectly blended grey
Seperated to black and white.
We found ourselves to be
As different as day and night.

As cliched as it may sound,
This is my story, sad and true ...
And yes, my friend,
It could happen to you.
