Where You Are

by

Joseph Birnbaum

Sunken, Sullen
Betwixt a Maze and a Milestone
I've lost my own road.

Engage life by the bayonet!
Your folly you'll forget
The same traps, the same glory

Do wolve's cry "sheep!"?
Do soldier-stones make war?
Does a Magnolia not die?

This life of mine,
It is really yours.
By the Staff, Song, Silver or Sword.

That which we hate, we are.
What we reap, we sow.
Do you know?
