The Way

by

Joseph Birnbaum

What is a gate you cannot see?
That door aloof you use to flee.
Open eyes do not percieve
Only the soul, with nowhere to be.

The breeze can carry you far from loss
Such the seed said to the moss
Epiphany found, epiphany lost
Tepid water which turns to frost

Where is this warm Way?
Where the enlightened walk with things to say.
It's here! I pray, as clear as day!
But a knot it is, I cannot fray.
