Tick, Tick, Tick…

The wall clock ticks sinisterly,
My eyes are riveted to it.
Tick, tick, seconds escape quickly -
All my chances seem forfeited.

I would like to stop the ticking
And hold back the hands - this movement.
The wall clock – a scary thing,
The past second – my lost moment.

The conscious touching of the time
Reminds of the inevitable.
I hear the clock all the while:
The clock-the time-my life-fear…

I can’t stand it. It’s so tragic.
I catch my anxious, nervous breath.
Every struck second – tick, tick, tick,
Brings nearer the certain death…
