It Does Happen

by

Jolanta Gradowicz

I've been looking for it for years,
I've been missing it for a long time.
Sometimes a poor substitute appears -
But it’s distant like the horizon line.

I could see it at nights in timid dreams:
It brings near to touch me tenderly,
Or comes flying on a white eagle’s wings
To fly away at daybreak finally.

It does happen. But I lose heart and hope:
Perhaps it is not my destiny,
Maybe I’ll never achieve this goal,
It may exist only in theory…

I've been looking for it for years.
I've been missing it for a long time.
It can’t leave me for good - still appears.
A powerful friendship – maybe sometime…
