The Tree

by

Jishnu Aravindakshan

Camouflaging from a small sprouting to a big canopy

Touching the azure and grazing the horizon, on a ground so sloppy

Counting all those branches and feeling their passionate growth,

And remembering those tempests and the droughts

Forgot all the decades which ticked away

While leaving many an indelible marks in once thoughts.

Branches sprouted and grew so big

Forking further into many smaller twig

Trunk, the values, expanding in girth

On the strong bedrock of unfailing roots

Climate changed and so did the challenges

But steadfastly added much more shoots.

Still it flourishes and will continue to flourish

But do know that it took time to nourish

Branch by branch, leaf by leaf

From roots to trunks, from branch to leaf, as a team

Had anything wilted under pressures
Sadly, this would be a requiem
