A Guide To My Waters

by

Jessica Sayer

These waters I guide myself by
In my small boat of my hope
Looking at my northern star and feeling the rising tide
Knowing that I have to cope
With these clouds that cover my bluest sky
Oh stormy weather go away! ... Nope,
Nothing to change the course of cruel nature
Nothing but time and more time
Just I and Earth's poor creatures
Why can't nature be more kind?
Why can't we see past his sharp features?
Oh sure a dark sky, a safe harbour I must find
Where do I find something that does not exist?
Oh where, where? What a question.
So many of these questions, too many to list
Nature, Earth, time are no one's creation
Just those of human beings with coiled fists
These waters I have no guide, just my soul as patient
