The storm

Henry Igbinedion

Behind jealous clouds
Peeped the Sun at shrouded Earth
Star crossed skies paled sickly as
Pompous stars hid their glitter

Swirling riots of air
Fanned across the horizon
Oblivious of dancing flora…then
Celestial fireworks cracked the
Earth’s roof and
The heavens leaked liquid silver
Arrowing to death our sunny peace

Rivers of earth slithered our loamy streets
As urchins ululating the tempest
Gyrated to high heavens.
