Gliding to Heavens
by
Ernest Dempsey
Soaring up on wanton winds
Unchained from fears of fall
Flapping wings live a nameless strength
Cruising through fathoms of the deep
Oblivious to the thwarting currents
Puny eyes seek their destination
Springing from lifeless heaps of clay
Up in the open breathing space
Tiny specks don a thousand forms
Pouring the wine of life from above
Smiling in divine bliss
The azure seal ever keeps its word
Breathing in the depths of being
Eager to unite with the word
Immortal echoes lie tuned to sounds
Prowling on the frailty of man
Lurking in the seams of self
The evil serpent hisses at its prey
Bearing the quaint chariot of life
Certain of its safety
The Guardian Angels glide to heavens
