A Silent Awe

by

Ehsan Elahi Ehsan

A silent awe is prevailing over the world
Our mornings and evenings are scared
With disappointment. Hope, the ever present
Friend of man seems languished,
The soothing calm of breeze is disturbed
By sudden explosions of bombing
On the innocent lives. The graver murmurs
Are coming out of human hearts
Trying to find some softer confirmation
Of a peaceful future. Although the sun
Is still throwing a placid yellow luster on the morning
Yet there are the fears of a dark night
Fast approaching and men are trying to find
A dead repose where they can hush
The inner turmoil or at least make themselves
Forget of the agonies casting their shadows before
The shadows lying in our hearts are consuming
Our attention more than the clouds sailing over the sky
The dreams of a happy future is being shattered
By the prevailing prejudice and fanaticism
And people are becoming sick of their lives.
