There Was a Friend of Mine

by

Ehsan Elahi Ehsan

There was a friend of mine
Always gay, always happy
But unfortunately
He became victim of
A whimsical Miss Understanding
He was sent on an expedition
To make a mountain of a mole hill
When he came back to her
He had a grain of sand on his palm
He thought his palm was the earth
And the grain of sand the Hamala
He was overjoyed on his tremendous success
Miss understanding was also fascinated to see
That he had made an exceptional achievement
And was worthy to be remembered
In the history of legendary heroes.
There was a friend of mind
Who became victim to the whims
Of a deceptive Miss Understanding.
And I have been left here
To keep his memory alive!
