In Our Forced Dreams

by

Ehsan Elahi Ehsan

When the sun rises high
And the dawn is gone by,
The flowers bloom for a day
And the sun is tired
Leaving for us a message
Of dark and lonely life
We, the human beings, fatigued
With our aimless hopes and cherishing
For a sweet slumber to come
But the failures of our success
Torments us like a ghost
And make us see
The dreadful scene
Of our purposeless life
The sleeping pills at hand
Are ready to make us numb
And take us to a world
Of unconsciousness
Showing us in our forced dreams
The reality of life
The loneliness of our spirit
And the fickleness of our life
We try to come out of this trance
But the sleeping pills
Have not ended their schedule
And keep us busy till we
Are put in the light of the day
To start with another fatigue
This time physical in its nature
Another weary day overpowers us
And we find
Little difference between
Life and death
Because we are livingly dead.
