A Wise and a Shrewd Man

by

Ehsan Elahi Ehsan

What a moment it was
When you and I came across
And looked into the eyes of each other
We felt as if we had
An old acquaintance
And been together for a long time
I always talked of things
And impressed you of my knowledge
But your focus had been on me
I thought I was a wise man
Because I had the knowledge
Of many things around
Then another moment came
And we departed all of a sudden
As if we did not know
Any thing about each other
Now when you are not with me
I have a strong realization
That I was only a wise man
Claiming to know many things
But you were shrewd
You had been studying man
You had been studying me
And not just the things
It was only then
That I came to know
What was the difference
Between a wise man
And a shrewd man.
