Remembering

by

Daniel R. Menage

If you try to remember
You forget,
You take a picture,
But I'm not in it.

You film me I disappear
I'm both the forgettable and unforgettable
A stranger in your life,
A guiding force...

Why do I do what I do,
You could search for a lifetime as I have
And still be no closer to the answer,
The soul is the only thing man cannot recreate

Why?
Don't ask what cannot be answered
Who, and what, how and where?
You know.

How do you remember something,
So long forgotten?
Forget too something close to your heart...
Take a momento, if you think it will help

You've never seen me,
But you knew me,
You can't find me.
But you know where I am

Someone has to remember,
Otherwise I never existed.
I lived in your heart,
In your mind and in your soul.
