Daddy's Little Girl

by

Cinnamon Brown

Daddy there are a lot of things I need to explain
Maybe then you will know my pain
It's difficult growing up without a mother
there is a lot of things that fathers and there daughters
don't know about each other
I really wasn't trying to grow up fast
But life has a way of repeating the past
I wanted to make you proud
Looking for acceptance lead me to the wrong crowd
When I lost my innocence
I felt as if I lacked a presence
My heart wanted me to get it together
Realistically I didn't know any better
Who would have thought I would end up here
I think about it with each shedding tear
I cannot make up for time gone by
But I can work on the future God know I'll try
You taught me that hard work brings great rewards
And that the battle is not mine but the lord's
I haven't yet figured out my place in this world
But I do know that I am daddy's little girl
