I Want to be a Butterfly

by

Chantel Rasmussen

I'm sitting by my window,
watching the butterflies,
flutter by,

They're in my tummy,
they're on my mind,
they're all my emotions,
compiled inside,

Confused by life,
and my "teen years,"
some nights i cry,
soaked silver tears,

But when i see the butterflies
drifting outside,
all my tears,
disappear,

I feel like a child,
all over again,
so calm and mild,
playing with friends,

I wish I was a butterfly,
so I could fly outside,
so careless and free,
that's what I should be.
