Ruby

by

Amanda Gemski

Dragons of the night sky singing their song
Maidens in bright silk, milk white complexions
Knights with gleaming swords, catching reflections
Feast, drunk on mead wine, daylight won’t be long
Sneaking and twisting wet mist creeps along
Enemies come to destroy elation
Grasping axes for decapitation
Drum droning lowly a bone- chilling bong
Leader of the opponents, bounds forward
A knight aggressively dances to meet
Axe and sword loudly clang, each singing toward
Heart with copper blood, quick with pulsing beat
And tough flesh spilling ruby blood forward
The heart is ripped forth, burnt with living heat
