Breaking Up

by

Amanda Clark

I want to break up
It just isn't working out
I feel like I'm trapped
And I want to get out

I know that I've used
This excuse before
I just want to be friends
Nothing less, nothing more

It's nothing that you did
It's nothing that you said
Things are just changing
Like the thoughts in my head

I will never regret
That we have been together
Some couples don't last
While others are forever

I still love you
Just not in "that way"
I feel as if I'm acting
Or putting on a play

What I do or say
Is not how I really feel
I'm sorry that I have to say
Our love is not for real

I would die inside
If we couldn't be friends
So my warmest wishes
To you I will send
