We Are Not Beaten

by

Alice C. Bateman

My Love, we are not beaten

We won’t let those rogues defeat us

They can see how strong we’re going to be

So they think they must unseat us

They challenge us and challenge us

But we just will not lie down

They kick us punch us hurt us

But I cannot keep this frown

Because our God, who loves us

Has brought your Love to me

Because our Love’s a Beacon

There for all to see

They may throw us setbacks

And curves and yes, more waiting

But our love just grows stronger

Shows no sign of abating

We were shown the wondrous vision

Of our souls becoming one

And by this we know, my Darling

Our time here is not done

We are only just beginning

In this lifetime, you and me

We will make a good beginning

We just have to wait and see

What timing will occur

That will bring you to my door

And then not to be parted

Not forever, ever more
