Walking a Tightrope

by

Alice C. Bateman

My first and last thoughts
Of the day are of you
Come to think of it
All of the others are too

How did I get here
To this deep drowning place
Why do I live for
The sight of your face

The sound of your voice
When you say hello
The smile on your face
When you have to go

Oh God, how I love you
I'm hoping you know
I'm walking a tightrope
With rocks down below

With you over there
Your arms open wide
Oh God, I just want to
Be right by our side

To help you and love you
Protect you and care
Oh God, can't you see
I just want to be there
