The Writer's Voice

Thank You for the Phone Call

by

Alice C. Bateman

Indeed, my Dear when is the hour
When I will finally see
The dear face that you'll bring to me
From far across the sea

I count the days, your Lordship
Your Lady waits for you
Listening to your treasured voice
My phone has captured you

Thank you for the phone call
Your voice at once so dear
You truly captivated me
With your voice in my ear

The Coach and Four had best come soon
Your Lady's growing tired
Of spending days and nights alone
Your presence is required

For many things, among them all
A gentle touch, a kiss
Oh now my lips are wondering
When they will know of this

When is the hour that we will meet
Not only voice to voice
It would be tomorrow, Dear
If I had any choice

But this encounter, first contact
Was blessed by Angel song
And God has led me to believe
It won't be very long

Until you're here, safe in my arms
And we can rest complete
Contented that we've found the love
That could be oh so sweet
