In Memory of John F. Kennedy Jr.

by

Alice C. Bateman

Is John F. Kennedy Junior

Shaking hands with Lady Di

In the Sweet Hereafter

Where we'll all be by and by?

Are they up there making plans

Giving God their own reports

Of what's been happening down here

Will they hold a Higher Court?

To determine mankind's future

To decide on what will be

And will our planet's future

Be the one God showed to me?

At least now John will know his father

Who's been gone such a long time

While all that I can do is put

My grief into a rhyme

Who is there now to point to

And to our children say

Now there is such a good man

Try to be like him someday

And what woman is there out there

We can show to our young girls

And say, try to be like her

Make a difference in the world

And I, what is there I can do

To take away the pain

Of another tragic accident

On a day that's filled with rain
