Dreaming

By

Alice C. Bateman

My dreaming mind oft shows me

The love that we could share

My dreaming mind compels me

To call you to my lair

I toss and turn in rapture

We hold each other close

You love me, and I love you

You are the one I chose

I dream that we are partners

And lovers in the night

I dream that you are with me

In early morning light

But then when I awaken

And it is really dawn

I find that I am all alone

And with the dreams, you’re gone

My love, I need you near me

To all our dreams fulfill

My love, your heart must hear me

And bring to life the thrill

Of your arms wrapped around me

Content in your embrace

And waking, seeing by me

Your wonderful, dear face

I love you, I have said that

You do not hear, it seems

I love you, pray thee listen

And bring to life my dreams
