has anyone heard of Francesca Lia Block or Holly Black? They both write awesome YA/fantasy fiction novels.

*laughs maniacally* Goood... gooood.

I do not aim with my hand, he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.

I do not shoot with my hand, he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind.

I do not kill with my gun; he who kills with his gun has forgotten the face of his father.
I kill with my heart.

Pick up The Gunslinger, it's the first of the series (it has a great, great ending speech; very philosophically satisfying- if you're into that).

Noooo... They're all one series of seven books... Called "The Dark Tower"... The first book in the series is called "The Gunslinger".

I loath to sound the fool, but can you elaborate on what the extracts of the book mean. Does he hate his father and projects his hate on those he kills, or are the people he killed responsible for the death off his father, or am I completely of track???

No, you way off track. To lose the face of one's father is like, to lose one's religion (just thought you might enjoy the REM allusion)... It's like the ultimate shame- it's sort of the last disgrace to one's father.

lol, i must have heard that song hundreds of times.

On the topic though, is the shame of 'forgetting the face of the father' a reflecting on the ineptness of those who don't wield a gun correctly? Sorry about the lack of comprehension, but I'd like to unravel the meaning of that text.

Yes, among in a large array of stupid things one can do.

The example above was the teaching concerning wielding a gun... You say it as you shoot.
